This month, the HiRISE visitor instrument proposal has been officially submitted to ESO by the team. The proposal is the results of a 2-year study done in collaboration with partners from France, Germany, Chile and the United-Kingdom. The proposal will now be evaluated by ESO and hopefully validated by the STC. In the meantime the development will continue with the goal to reach a final design by the end of the year. Congrats to the HiRISE team !
This month too, the Società Astronomica Italiana awarded the Giuseppe Lorenzoni prize to Simona LOMBARDO for her paper “SCALA : In situ calibration for integral field spectrographs”, thus recognising her major PhD work. Congrats Simona !
Also this month, The LUVOIR team for the 2020 Decadal has been recently awarded with the NASA Group Achievement Award for the LUVOIR Science and Technical Definition Team (STDT) as well as several Robert H. Goddard awards for the LUVOIR STDT, the engineering team and key people. Congrats to the LUVOIR team, which included Marc FERRARI as international member and had a significant LAM contribution for the POLLUX instrument study !
Finally, two new papers were published in the team this June 2020 :
Fetick et al., accepted in MNRAS :Blind deconvolution in astronomy with adaptive optics : the parametric marginal approach
Lombardo et al., white paper on ArXiv : CASTLE : performances and science cases.
