Title: Spectro-photometric analysis of star-forming galaxies: the case of a dusty local system, Arp 244, and of strong line emitters at z ∼ 2.

Abstract: The evolution of galaxies is a complex process, influenced by star formation, dust and interactions with the environment. This thesis uses spectral energy distribution (SED) modelling to study these effects and better constrain stellar masses and star formation rates.

Two case studies are carried out. Arp 244, a system of interacting galaxies in the local universe, will be used to analyse the impact of dust on a small scale. A sample of galaxies at z∼2 observed with JWST is used to test the integration of spectroscopic data into the SED modelling process.

The results show that dust attenuation plays a key role in the interpretation of SEDs and that hydrogen emission lines, are crucial to effectively constrain the SFR and stellar masses.
